Maternity unit condemned as ‘institutionally sexist’

The management of the unit claimed that few men on the Isle chose to become pregnant and that the low number of male admissions was not in their control. However, the inspectors rejected this claim as irrelevant, adding that men were probably deterred by the thought of the reception they would get if they arrived at the unit claiming to be pregnant.
