An horrendous Christmas overspend has caused threats to the welfare budget and the need to hand back all the socks that the Chancellor has bought for his colleagues. A statement was put out: ‘I may have been a tad profligate with my purchases. I’m afraid we’ll have to return the pop-up NHS.’
