Coronation carriage impounded by VOSA

A spot check by the Department of transport Vehicle Loveliness Authorities during a midnight rehearsal of the parade from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace found the carriage had bald tyres and no turn indicators.


The carriage was put on a low-loader and taken away for further checks. None of the King’s horses and none of the King’s men were able to say when the carriage was last sent for an MoT.




TUC day of action thwarted by bus and rail strikes

The TUC has conceded that the day of action scheduled for 1 February, with mass protests planned in all major cities, may not go ahead due to industrial action planned by bus and rail drivers on the day. 'We condemn the strike action being taken that is preventing us from protesting against legislation removing the right to strike,' a TUC sokesperson said today.
