Character assassinations more effective than real assassinations

Historians have revealed a number of Heads of States narrowly avoided death, only to become the victims of condescending slurs – often fatally wounded by verbal shots. The Provisional IRA claimed Margaret Thatcher was a gobshite and 'as thick as a bull’s walt'. Claus Von Stauffenberg referred to the German Führer as 'Sie dumm fuhrt' (- a stupid head). While Guy Fawkes labelled King James I 'an idle-headed, pribbling, malmsey-nosed scut!'.

The CIA has been strangely silent on this issue, except tweeting that Vladimir Putin was a 'big girl’s blouse'.
