Police to be replaced with fictional crime-solvers

A pilot scheme involving a Mr. Endeavor Morse, had proved so successful that Thames Valley were able to substitute their relatively low ‘murder’ conviction rate, with the implausibly inflated figures from Colin Dexter. As one Officer explained: ‘The public wanted a familiar face. A traditional portrayal of law and order. The haunted look. Plus, the round tones of the classically trained actor’.

‘And thanks to re-runs, he gives an impression of 24/7 patrols, without the overheads’.
