Parents living with adult children are taking for granted the round the clock tech advice and social media guidance provided by adult children. That’s the view of many adult children spoken to by the BBC as part of its Your Voice initiative.

Ross, 27, who lives with his parents in Swindon, said: “It’s a serious situation. My parents think they can surf the Net at any time of the day or night and wake me up to ask me questions if something doesn’t load. They come in whenever they like and treat the house like a hotel, not seeming bothered that that is the ropiest of clichés. It’s not on. Myself and other young people like me have got interviews to prepare for. We need our sleep.

“We called a meeting in the kitchen to discuss it. I love my parents, but I told them that the current situation isn’t working. I said that the time has come for them to move out and make something of their lives. They can’t just lounge around watching ToTP2.

“They came back at me with the old dishwasher argument, trying to claim they had unloaded and loaded it more than me, but I was ready. I showed them the app which proved that I had loaded and unloaded the machine 82 times in July, compared to their 26.

“My mother said: ‘The dishwasher has an app?’”

For decades, parents have put up with watching 2nd rate cartoons as there has always been a few smutty jokes just for them. However, the latest summer blockbuster "Under the shed" has been a winner with the kids but has enraged parents and grandparents alike.

"It's just a cartoon about some woodlice living under a shed," one angry parent told us. "We spent almost £50 on tickets and £30 on snacks at our local cinema and there's not a single blue joke, insinuation or double entendre anywhere. I mean, who would make a film about bugs who eat wood without a single "he's got wood" joke? I'm beyond disappointed."

Cinema manager, Gary Edwards, told our reporter, "We've never had so many people ask for their money back. These parents have my sympathy. I was expecting some "behind the bike-sheds" innuendo or even a "beautiful tits" gag when the woodlice discover a birds' nest but there's nothing."

Grandfather of 25 (not his age), Steve Jackson, was furious. "I've been watching this kind of crap for years with my kids and now grandkids. I've only managed to sit through them because of the borderline filth and there was nothing. Not even a camp grasshopper with a dirty laugh or a slutty slug, doing snail trail jokes. it's an absolute disgrace."

Electronics giant, LG, has announced a robot replacement for teenagers. The Watt Ever 1 has been demonstrated filling a washing machine at the rate of one shirt every 10 minutes with long periods of just staring at the pile of washing.

Audience members with teenage children said this behaviour was very familiar, when the robot had to have the washing machine turned on for them before it announced it's batteries were flat and needed recharging for 14 hours, Mrs Jenkins was heard to say. 'That's my Wayne down to a T.'

The teenAIger bleeped 'Watt Ever, your Mum works at McDonald's' before requesting '50 quid, actually 100' for 'stuff' that 'you wouldn't understand'.
