Estate to build 'UK's largest beaver enclosure'
The owners of an estate in Gloucestershire have announced plans to build what they said would be the largest beaver enclosure in the UK.
As part of a rewilding project that started in 2020, the Merkin Estate, near Muff in Gloucestershire, is planning a reconstruction of its land to include a new beaver enclosure.
Estate manager Rob Netherhair explained, 'We have a carpet of forest thatch that is the ideal environment for beavers. The bush is short and curly and with just the right amount of wetness that we hope will encourage the furry monkey beavers from the Black Forest to breed and flourish.'
