U.S. jails hoping to inspire the next Mandela or at least keep him locked up


Said a spokesman: ‘Tough prisons are character building. Nothing is more likely to inspire future Nobel prize winner than the threat of execution, molestation and having to $hit in a bucket.


‘We incarcerate more ethnic minorities than Stalin, Apartheid South Africa and Willy Wonka. Our privatised prisons are theatres of the mind – but with captive audiences’.
