Kingfishers to be culled for ‘showing off’

That’s never British plumage’, an ornithologist told us. ‘British birds, like British flowers, mammals, insects and fish should be muted, unimpressive, drab. It’s how we like it’.

Kingfishers have long been suspected of not being from round here. If a cull proves unpopular with the public the second choice is to capture them all and send them to Rwanda, where their gaudy plumage will fit in. We asked Suella Braverman for a comment but she was driving and the doppler shift was just too strong to make out what she said. Sorry.
