Sheep 'lost for words' trying to explain the behaviour of people queuing to reach Snowdon peak

Welsh sheep grazing at the foot of Glyder Fawr say they are ‘lost for words’ trying to explain why people are forming long queues to reach the top of Wales highest mountain.
Jason, a veteran Badger Face from Llwyn-yr-eos says he has been grazing the same mountain slope for seven years but has never seen so many people following each other up the steep mountain pass.
‘They all want to touch the metal plate at the peak’s highest point’ bleated Jason ‘It beggars belief, if only there was an idiom or phrasal expression that would best describe the behaviour of these people, something which you could compare them with….something that would sum up their blind conformity and passive obedience…..it’s as if they can’t think for themselves and have to follow the person in front of them at the head of the queue.
There have even been reports of people pushing and shoving, moving as if in a herd as they try to reach the trig point
No….it’s no good…try as I might I just can’t think of anything that I can compare them with'.
