A leaked internal government memo shows that Canadian officials are concerned about looking like an afterthought if Trump manages to acquire Greenland first.
“Naturellement, we’d prefer to remain an independent democracy, eh?” said Minister for Excessive Politeness Jean-Claude de Poutine. “But if we are going to be swallowed up by le grand imbécile au sud, let’s at least make it look as if we were the one he really wanted.”
Meanwhile in Greenland, Minister for Snow and Rocks Ikki Hurdïgurdï was expressing similar thoughts.
“We for sure are wishing not a part of America to become. But if destined to happen it is, like the for certain doom of the hero in one of the old sagas, then better it is not the 52nd state to be, which totally suck would.”
For her part, the Danish Prime Minister said she’d be entirely happy to let Greenland go, as administering the country as well as Denmark was taking up a lot of valuable time which could be used making open sandwiches and arranging them artfully on the plate, along with many different herrings.
